About Meghan
A proud alumna of Hauppauge High School, Meghan Smith is a graduate of the Master’s in School Counseling program at New York Institute of Technology. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Administration and Public Policy with a concentration in Health from SUNY Cortland, where coursework in education policy and an internship under Brentwood Legislator (LD-9) Samuel Gonzalez sparked her passion for education reform. Inspired by her own high school counselor, Mrs. Wanatick, Meghan views school counseling as a powerful avenue for creating positive change in education. She is dedicated to supporting students’ individual needs, staying current with best practices, and advocating for safe, inclusive learning environments through comprehensive school violence prevention measures. Meghan has experience working with students from kindergarten through 12th grade and strives to be a lifelong learner. She enjoys playing guitar and attending concerts, especially those featuring Bruce Springsteen.
