Welcome to the 6th-Grade Brochure
I developed a "Welcome to 6th Grade" brochure to ease the transition for incoming middle school students and their families. This resource offers essential information about school support systems, reducing student anxiety and promoting a smoother start to middle school. A positive transition is crucial for student success, and this brochure helps bridge the gap between elementary and secondary education.

I prioritize building strong rapport with students to understand their individual needs and interests, which informs my lesson planning. For example, a small group for 7th grade girls focused on self-esteem and healthy relationships. After establishing a connection with the group, I developed an ASCA-aligned lesson incorporating their shared interest in Taylor Swift, demonstrating my commitment to creating engaging and relevant experiences for my students. This approach allows me to address important social-emotional learning objectives while fostering a positive and supportive environment.

School and Community Involvement
Active involvement in the school and surrounding community is essential for me as a school counselor to build strong relationships and understand the broader context of my students' lives. Participating in events like the annual St. Baldrick's fundraiser, where our school raised over $20,000, allows me to connect with students and families outside of the school building while supporting a worthy cause. St. Baldrick's provides critical funding for childhood cancer research, giving hope to families and ultimately saving lives. These experiences reinforce my commitment to supporting my students' well-being both inside and outside of the classroom.
