Enrichment
Comfort Zone Camp (CZC)
Volunteering and training at Comfort Zone Camp allows me to support grieving children by providing emotional guidance and creating a safe space for expression. This experience has strengthened my ability to listen, communicate, and adapt to different emotional needs—essential skills in my role as a school counselor. Working with children from diverse backgrounds has deepened my empathy and understanding, reminding me that grief takes many forms and impacts each child differently. Most importantly, I’ve learned that sometimes, a little silliness goes a long way in making students feel comfortable, though my dance moves have yet to improve.
New York State School Counselor Association
(NYSSCA)
As an active member of the NYSSCA Elementary Advocacy Committee, I collaborate with fellow school counselors across New York State to promote the unique needs of elementary students within our profession. Our work focuses on developing resources, sharing best practices, and advocating for comprehensive school counseling programs that support the social-emotional, academic, and career development of young learners. This involvement keeps me engaged in current trends and strengthens my commitment to elevating the role of elementary school counselors statewide.
